The best time to climb Himlung Himal is:

• Autumn (Late Sept–October): Clear skies, stable weather, and safe climbing conditions. Most recommended.

We follow a slow and steady acclimatization trek through the stunning Nar-Phu Valley, allowing the body to gradually adapt to altitude before reaching Base Camp. After one key rotation climb to Camp 1, our summit strategy utilizes three high camps—Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3—along the standard route to ensure a safe, staged ascent.

This approach minimizes risk, maximizes summit success, and gives climbers time to build strength, confidence, and rhythm on the mountain.

You need to have a good to great level of endurance and strength fitness level required to climb extreme altitude mountains. Although Himlung Himal is classed as entry level 7000M, this expedition is not to be underestimated.

Summit day begins early midnight from camp 3 or 3in Himlung Himal. The climb itself is the straightforward climbing up the ridge leading upto the summit. We will be mostly climbing through ice and snow terrains and will be a early day (am) start to the summit and back to camp 1.

Himlung Himal is widely regarded as one of the safest 7000M peaks in the Himalayas, with minimal objective hazards such as avalanches or crevasses along the standard route.

Himlung Himal (7,126m), is widely considered one of the safest 7000-meter peaks in the Himalayas. Compared to other peaks like Spantik in Pakistan or Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan, Himlung offers significantly fewer objective dangers such as avalanches, crevasses, or unstable terrain. The standard climbing route is straightforward, with gradual slopes and well-established camps, making it ideal for entry-level 7000m climbers.

In contrast, Spantik presents more technical sections, rockfall zones, and steeper snow slopes, while Lenin Peak is known for its high avalanche risk, heavily crevassed glaciers, and volatile weather patterns, especially near Camp 3.

Rescue operations on Himlung are also more accessible, with helicopter evacuation possible from Base Camp—something not easily available on Spantik or Lenin. Thanks to stable weather in the post-monsoon season and a well-paced acclimatization strategy using Camp 1, Camp 2, and Camp 3, Himlung has one of the highest summit success rates among all 7000m peaks offered by Namas Adventure.

This expedition is limited to a maximum of 8–10 climbers. The team is led by one main guide who is IFMGA or NMA certified and responsible for leading the expedition and overall decision-making.

We strongly believe that Nepalese IFMGA-certified guides are highly skilled, experienced, and fully capable of leading serious Himalayan expeditions. They have a strong working level of English and communicate clearly on the mountain. We are committed to responsible tourism and prioritize experienced local Nepalese leaders. If a client specifically requests a Western guide, this can be arranged at additional cost.

The Sherpa support is provided at a 1:1 ratio. All Sherpas are NMA-certified and trained at the Khumbu Climbing Center. They have a good working level of English and can clearly understand, communicate, and give instructions. A personal Sherpa dedicated solely to one climber can also be arranged, with additional charges applying.

‍ The pre-requisite experience required for the expedition of Himlung Himal is an ascent of one or more than one mountain over 5000 to 6000 m. Lobuche East, Khumbu peak, and Island Peak in Nepal or Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus in Africa or similar altitude mountains can be perfect beginner expeditions to complete for ascent of Himlung Himal.

You need to be in very good physical condition to go on this expedition. While the climb is supported by Sherpa Guides and the ropes fixed on the trail, the technical skills required are not for beginners. It means climbers need to be skilled and fit enough to move independently and handle long stays in the mountains. In addition, you need to be fit enough to carry your own gear because the Sherpa team carries climbing and group gears. Hence, you need to be healthy and fit to take this expedition

While it’s a beginner level mountain expedition, climbers need to have rope and wall climbing skills. Climbers are expected to carry their own gear hence skills with ropes, axes, bouldering and slope ascent is expected from you

Climbing

We recommend you to take on basic courses on climbing in your locality that offers:

• Practice bouldering and rope work at your local gym

• Take a basic ice climbing course to learn ice axe, crampon techniques, and rope skills.

Fitness

Engage in an endurance and strength training routine to counter the challenges and weather in the high mountains.

We allow 40kgs of personal weight for this expedition.

Climbers are required to carry their personal climbing gear. If client require Sherpa guide to carry their personal gear additional Sherpa guide can be hired at additional cost USD 2500+

High camp tents and meals will be prepared by Sherpa guide members.

No, higher camps and meals are prepare by Sherpa guide members. This is part of the service in Nepal.

During the trek, climbers and trekkers need to stay in local Sherpa guesthouses (tea houses). They're clean, comfortable, and give you a real taste of local culture. We use the best available lodges in each village, places we know well and trust.

Rooms are normally shared (twin or sometimes triple), but you can book a private room for an extra fee.

On the mountain, you'll share a tent with one or two other climbers. If you want your own tent at Base Camp, we can arrange that. Just let us know beforehand so we can plan accordingly

During the trek, the hot showers and laundry service are available for a small additional fee. At Base Camp in the high altitude, the team set up shower tents with hot water

During the trekking phase (in tea houses), meals are prepared fresh and mostly based on your choice from the lodge menu. Options range from the classic Nepali dish Dal Bhat (rice, lentils, vegetables) to familiar international meals such as pasta, soups, pizza, mashed potatoes, dumplings, and more.

During the camping phase, we shift to expedition-style meals. Our team provides a mix of freshly cooked food and pre-packed supplies brought from Kathmandu. Cooked options typically include rice, lentils, vegetables, and pasta. For convenience and nutrition at higher camps, we also include freeze-dried meals (chicken, vegetarian, spaghetti, etc.), chocolate and energy bars, biscuits, and hydration tablets. While variety is more limited during camping days, we ensure all meals are calorie-dense, hygienic, and designed for high-altitude performance.
