Overview
Annapurna IV 7525M is the perfect mountaineering objective for climbers who wants the thrill of climbing at extreme altitude with fewer crowds and relatively less technical difficulty compared to other peaks in the Annapurna massif. Annapurna IV is part of the great Annapurna massif range, standing tall between Annapurna II 7937M/26040FT on the western side and Annapurna III 7555M/24787FT to the eastern face. The climbing route has fewer objective dangers and is relatively a semi-technical climb. To clear out the confusion amongst the Annapurna massif range (Annapurna I, II, III, IV, and Gangapurna) IV is the least dangerous and least technical. This mountain is not climbed as often as other peaks in the region.
Pre-requisite requirements for joining expedition (minimum of 2 peaks over 6000 m): Lobuche East & Island Peak, Khumbu 3 Peak expeditions, Aconcagua, Denali, Himlung Himal 7126M, Chulu West or higher.
There is no question about the beauty and challenges of climbing this 7525M+ giant but this expedition is by no means a walk in the park. Graded at TD+/4 the climbing route consists of some technical climbs as well as glacier routes, rocky vertical climbs, and steep exposed ridges. This mountain will shape you with the right experience to climb 8000M peaks or even Mt. Everest

The reflection to write this review for Namas took me a month, I was particularly focused on the reason that drew me to Annapurna IV peak to begin with. I realized the reason I was attracted to Annapurna IV after a long reflection. I realized that I was attracted to the peak because I enjoyed exploration of raw, unscathed natural landscapes and rare opportunity to embrace the untouched beauty of Annapurna IV. I have come to a realization I like exploring serene and unharmed beauty from both inside and outside of my being after sitting to draft this review.
I was lucky enough to have found the unique NAMAS team who regularly conduct expeditions of the hidden and unscathed peaks like Annapurna IV with a limited size team. Although limited in size, the expertise, care, technical ability to lead and to carve the path rather than follow other teams makes them a spirited pioneers in climbing rarely attempted peaks makes NAMAS the leaders in Himalayan Expeditions.
The hospitable and highly experienced team at NAMAS made the climb feel more like a walk in the park than a summit. Additionally, icing on the cake to the safe trip made possible by lead Sherpas was the amazing foods served at every camp by the Kitchen Crew (I am coming back for the Scrambled Eggs and Momos).
If the ideal picture of mountaineering means climbing a peak with very low crowd, experiencing breathtaking views of mountain line from remote peaks while sharing good vibes in nature with hospitable people then Nepal’s Unscathed Peak with NAMAS is a trip you need to make. I cannot end the review without the support and interactions I had with Bishesh in London and quick responses of Sushmita.

I climbed Annapurna IV with NAMAS Adventure in October 2024. From my very first message in April, I could tell I was in good hands. Sushimita replied quickly, answered all my questions thoroughly, and was professional throughout. When I asked to speak with trip manager and NAMAS founder Bisesh on a video call, it was arranged without any fuss.
Here are some things that stood out especially for me
1. Airport transfers were well organised and communicated in advance. Our families also received emergency contact details.
2. Hotels in Kathmandu were comfortable, safe, and centrally located, with good amenities. All included in the trip cost.
3. Cultural visit trips to Pokhara with one of our Sherpas was arranged for us. All logistics were handled so we could simply enjoy it.
4. Tea houses, NAMAS has long-standing relationships with every tea house on the route. We were welcomed into their kitchens and treated like family.
5. Base camp was impressive. Each climber had a personal sleeping tent, plus a shower tent, toilet tent, dining tent, kitchen tent, and supply tent. There was Starlink internet access, snacks, and printed food menus with real choices.
6. Acclimatisation plan along with our rotation and rest days were carefully planned to give us the best chance at the summit.
7. Sherpas and support staff especially or Sherpas (one per climber) were experienced, strong, and deeply knowledgeable about the Himalayas. Some had summited Everest over 24 times. Their skill and commitment were a major reason all four of us reached the summit.
8. Historic firsts, on this climb, NAMAS helped us achieve several firsts: first American woman, first ethnic Chinese, and first Australian to summit Annapurna IV.

Another great expedition. This was my third time with NAMAS, and it was better than I expected.
The team was kind, skilled, and worked well together throughout. They were efficient, resourceful, and always in good spirits. The Sherpas were excellent, helpful, highly capable, and good fun to be around. Many of them already knew each other, which gave the whole team a close, family-like feeling.
Paljor, who had supported me the previous year on Himlung Himal, was brilliant again. The rental gear was solid, including a warm Kailash sleeping bag, Black Diamond crampons, a harness, and a helmet. Base camp was well set up and tidy, with a spacious personal tent for each climber and a comfortable communal dining tent in a beautiful location.
We moved through the mountain quickly to take advantage of a short good-weather window and finished the expedition a full week ahead of schedule. Annapurna IV is a tough and fascinating mountain. I particularly grew to appreciate the wall section between base camp and Camp 1.
It was also great to have Bisesh climbing with the team. I’m already looking forward to my next expedition with NAMAS.

Annapurna 4 is part of the grander Annapurna massif range in central Nepal. It sits right between Annapurna 2 and 3 and can be considered the safest Annapurna climb.

Spring (Mid March – May) is ideal, is considered the best season to climb mountains of Nepal. This period generally provides clear skies, stable weather and great snow conditions in the mountain. We must say Annapurna 4 has been least climbed or explored during the spring season.
Autumn (Late September - November) is second amazing climbing window for all the mountains in Nepal and in the Annapurna region. We have operated mostly during the autumn season at Annapurna 4 achieving summit and safety success in our expeditions.

The mountaineering route of Annapurna IV is a technical mix of rock-ice terrain, exposed ridge, vertical face sections and steep snow slopes. The lead and guide team will fix lines on technical section but climbers need to be skilled in:

Yes, you’ll need to have technical climbing skills to join the expedition for Annapurna IV. The TD +4 Rating makes it essential for climbers to have rock climbing skills to cross snow ridges, vertical rock/ice face, and routes. It is essential to have scaled 6000 m peak in Nepal or other serious technical peaks to attempt this peak. NNMGA/IFMGA certified guides will have cover your summit but you’ll need a refresher training from our team and following skill:
