In Memory of the Broad Peak Expedition Team
The mountains always inspired humanity with their exceptional beauty, challenges, and mystery. They remind us of limitless dreams and deepest humility. Today, with heavy hearts, we pay tribute to the brave climbers who lost their lives in a tragic avalanche on Broad Peak, Karakoram's challenging 8000-meter peak. The disaster on July 30, 2026 claimed the lives of 10 mountaineers including legendary climber Nirmal Purja “ Nimsdai”, Pur Bahadur Gurung, Nima Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa, Sohel Shakhi, Wang Zhong, Nadira Ahmad, and Mallory Geis. This shocking incident has left the entire mountaineering community in mourning.
Every mountain expedition is built on courage, readiness, collaboration, and respect for nature. Climbers who enter these extreme spaces understand that success is never guaranteed and the mountain always decides the outcomes. Despite this, climbers climb not to overpower nature but to push their limit, motivate other people, and follow goals that few dare to imagine.
The Broad Peak tragedy is a grim reminder of the huge risks in high-altitude mountaineering. Behind every summit push, families, teammates, Sherpas, guides, and supporters are involved, who carry hopes as well as sacrifice. While the world cheers and celebrates the successful expedition, it also stands together in mourning when the mountain takes the lives of their finest souls.

We especially honor the extraordinary legacy of Nirmal Purja, “Nims Dai," his achievements, vision, messages, and the recognition he gave to Nepal and Nepalese climbers. His leadership, determination, and belief of “nothing is impossible” always continue to inspire adventurers and climbers for generations.
